Funding is paid by bank transfer to the group's nominated bank account following approval by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. Successful applicants may be required to complete a bank details form before payment can be processed. 

Yes. Successful applicants must submit a Completion Report together with receipts and evidence of expenditure showing how the grant funding was used. Failure to supply evidence of expenditure will affect future funding decisions. Photos showing the results of the project may also be submitted. All completion reports and receipts should be submitted by Friday 1st October 2027. 

A number of projects will be selected which demonstrate climate action at a local level in the County. Local communities will be selected following an Expression of Interest phase and will carry-out their direct climate action projects over 18 months. Projects can include a suite of measures, not just one specific action.

Yes. Successful applicants must acknowledge the financial support of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. The Council's approved funding logo should be included on relevant printed materials, social media graphics, posters and promotional materials, where applicable. 

Eligible communities must be:

• a not-for-profit;
• located in the operational area of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council;
• registered with a PPN or connected with other collectives such as the Wheel, Tidy Towns and /or a community group with Articles of Association or a Constitution, which hold an AGM, and for which approved minutes are available.

Local branches of national organisations may be eligible, once there is a clear financial separation or local branch from national organisation level.

Projects should seek to demonstrate the delivery of national climate action at local level by including at least one, preferably more, of the following:

• Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
• Improving energy efficiency
• Increasing climate resilience (help adapt to the consequences of climate change)
• Assisting communities transition to low carbon and sustainable economy

Projects should address at least one, but preferably more than one of the following themes:

• Community Energy
• Travel
• Food and waste
• Shopping and recycling
• Local climate and environmental action

Funding is available for 100% of the project and there are three project sizes eligible:

• Small scale projects < €20,000
• Medium scale projects €20,000 to €50,000
• Large scale projects €51,000 to €100,000

Interested community groups are strongly encouraged to contact the Community Climate Action Officer at climate@dlrcoco.ie with their project ideas before completing their application form.

Applications are invited for any of the following projects;  

1. Purchase of plants or trees for public areas 
2. Estate name stones 
3. Environmental talks and workshops 
4. Environmental awareness campaigns, including anti-litter and waste prevention initiatives 
5. Minor non-mechanised equipment for planting projects (e.g. spades, trowels, forks and gloves) 

OR Applicants may also apply for a combination of the above activities. 

Residents' Associations, Estate Management Groups, Tidy District Groups and Tidy Town Groups operating within the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area are eligible to apply. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a clear environmental benefit to the local community.  

The maximum grant available is €800. Applicants may apply for up to 70% of the total project cost, with the remaining 30% to be funded by the applicant group. 

No. The Environment Enhancement Grant can fund a maximum of 70% of eligible project costs. Applicant groups must provide the remaining 30% of funding.

Yes, if your project is located on public land or adjacent to a road, path or public green space, permission may be required from the relevant Council section. Yes. Groups may apply for multiple dlr grant schemes provided each application relates to a different project or initiative. Separate applications must be submitted for each grant. 

Applicants will receive an email with the result of their application for an Environment Enhancement Grant following the December 2026 Council meeting.

• Rewards and acknowledges the huge efforts of community volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year. 

Applications are accepted from estate management groups, residential groups and towns or villages within Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

Awards are given based on the results of an unannounced adjudicators visit that will happen during the months of July and August and the information provided on the application form. 

• These award categories are opportunities for awards and recognition outside of the main awards categories. 

• This year's focus is on a visual celebration of the work of voluntary groups so be sure to include images of your work 

The purpose of the grant is to support Residents' Associations, Estate Management Groups, Tidy District Groups and Tidy Town Groups to enhance and improve local public areas through community-led environmental projects.

Posters and display boards are optional for groups. Any group that is submitting a board must deliver them to Marine Road County Hall offices a week before the event. Any received posters will be displayed on the night
