Record of Protected Structures

Each Local Authority is required to compile and maintain a Record of Protected Structures (RPS) under the provisions of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended).

The RPS for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is set out in Appendix 4 of the County Development Plan, 2022-2028 which existed on the 10th April 2022 when the Plan was made.

Section 54 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended), states that a planning authority may add to or delete from its record of protected structures if it considers that an addition is necessary to protect a structure (or part of a structure) of special architectural, historical, archaeological, artistic, cultural, scientific, social or technical interest, or if the protection of a structure is no longer warranted.

The Local Authority may therefore add to or delete the Record of Protected Structures on an ongoing basis in accordance with the provisions of Section 55 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended). These additions and/or deletions are detailed below and listed in the following table: RPS Additions and/or Deletions.
