As we approach the close of 2025, I’m pleased to share several developments and seasonal highlights from across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

Construction has commenced on the M50 Junction 14 Link Road Scheme, a vital project to enhance connectivity and promote sustainable travel in the Sandyford and Leopardstown Road area. The Beckett Road scheme in Cherrywood has now been signed, opening up much-needed land for housing. Works on the Glenamuck District Road Scheme are progressing well, with completion on target for Q2 2026.

Phase 2 of the Community Climate Action Programme has been launched, empowering local groups to takemeaningful climate action through capital projects supported by the Department of Climate, Energy, and the Environment. Our new Memorandum of Understanding with the Rediscovery Centre will help establish a local hub to promote the circular economy and encourage sustainable living.

We are proud that Ballyogan Square won the Leading the Climate Transition category at the ICSH Allianz Biennial Community Housing Awards in October. Ballyogan Square has 67 high-quality homes, including two- and three-bedroom units, all built to exceptional environmental standards. Elected Members have adopted the Old Connaught Local Area Plan 2025, which comes into effect in mid-December and sets the stage for future infrastructure and housing development.

Congratulations to Dalkey Tidy Town group on winning Tidiest Large Town in the SuperValu National Tidy Towns competition. Well done to Shankill for retaining gold and Foxrock for earning bronze. We commend all entrants, including DúnLaoghaire, Blackrock, Monkstown Village, Kill Avenue, and Dundrum. The Clonkeen playground is now open, providing a vibrant space for families and children to enjoy.

As the festive season approaches, join us for a programme celebrating community spirit and outdoor gatherings. Highlights include 3D light installations, the whimsical Curious Elf Tree, Santa Post Boxes, and the return of
Wonderlights in Marlay Park and ice skating in Dún Laoghaire. Ring in 2026 at Dún Laoghaire Harbour with a dazzling New Year’s Eve fireworks display. Together, these initiatives reflect our shared vision for a more connected, sustainable, and inclusive Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown
