Dublin Climate Action Week 2026 has officially launched, marking a city and county wide programme of events focused on connecting with people on climate action across the Dublin region. Running from 11-17 May inclusive, the programme brings together communities, businesses, schools, colleges, sports clubs, and local authorities to showcase practical solutions for climate mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity protection.

Organised collaboratively by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Dublin City Council, Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council, Dublin Metropolitan Climate Action Regional Office (CARO) and Dublin’s Energy Management Agency Codema, Dublin Climate Action Week highlights ongoing local climate initiatives while empowering people to take meaningful action in their everyday lives.

A wide range of free events including workshops, talks, exhibitions, school programmes and community‑led activities focused on energy, transport, nature, circular economy, food systems and climate resilience will be available to attend across Dublin City and County, both in person and online.

Launching the week, the Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Cllr. Jim Gildea, Lord Mayor of Dublin City Council, Cllr. Ray McAdam, the Deputy Mayor of Fingal County Council, Cllr. Grainne Maguire and Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr. Pamela Kearns jointly stated the importance of both collective leadership and local action in addressing climate change:

“Climate change is already affecting our communities, our coastlines, our infrastructure and our quality of life. We recognise both the urgency of the challenge and the opportunity it presents. Dublin Climate Action Week 2026 reflects our shared commitment to lead by example, to work together, and to support communities in building a healthier, more resilient and sustainable city and county.”

Whilst Local Authorities have a critical role to play in driving climate action, real change happens when residents, communities, businesses and Public Bodies act together. This week is about making climate action visible, practical and inclusive and about inviting everyone to be part of the solution.”

The Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, Darragh O’Brien T.D. attending the event also added:

“Dublin Climate Action Week aligns with national and local Climate Action Plans and supports Ireland’s transition to a low‑carbon, climate‑resilient future. National ambition must be matched by local implementation, innovation, and public engagement. I commend the four Dublin Local Authorities, Dublin Metropolitan Climate Action Regional Office, and Codema for working together to create a programme of events that builds on Dublin’s growing network of community climate initiatives, schools programmes and local innovation and I encourage people across the region to get involved during the week.”

Event listings, resources and participation details are available on the Dublin Climate Action Week Website.

Updates will be shared throughout the week on our website and social channels.
