dlr Libraries are hosting a new exhibition celebrating the book Kings and Queens of the Road – Ríthe agus Banríonacha an Bhóthair, an initiative by the Museum of Childhood Ireland, Músaem Óige na hÉireann and Robert Burns, including a collection of personal stories reflecting the journey children once made to and from school.

The exhibition showcases some of the stories and accompanying paintings by the artist Molly Buí Hennessy, bringing voices and childhood experiences to life through memory and community history.

Cllr Jim Gildea, Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council welcomes the exhibition stating,

“We are proud to launch Kings and Queens of the Road - – Ríthe agus Banríonacha an Bhóthair in dlr LexIcon, marking the County’s role in championing culture, literacy, and community engagement. This exhibition shines a light on the everyday journeys that shaped childhoods across Ireland and beyond. We are delighted to support an initiative that honours memory and celebrates the voices of people of all ages.”

The exhibition is supported by a programme of free education and art workshops delivered by the Museum of Childhood Ireland and Molly Buí Hennessy.
