The Age-Friendly Programme of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown (dlr) County Council and the dlr County Council Age Friendly Alliance are delighted to launch the 2026 edition of the dlr Age Friendly Magazine.

This is the sixth year of the free annual magazine aimed at our older community, funded by dlr County Council and Creative Ireland. This year’s theme is “Supporting creativity, health and wellbeing in our communities”.

This year’s magazine is packed with information on services and programmes to encourage us to take part and enjoy the many age-friendly social, cultural, creative, educational, leisure and fitness activities and services that are available across the county. An eclectic mixture of information, creative writing, puzzles, and interesting articles, there is something for everyone in this year’s magazine.

On launching the dlr Age Friendly Magazine 2026, Councillor Jim Gildea, Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said:

The theme to this year’s magazine is “Supporting creativity, health and wellbeing in our communities” and there is a wide range of information in the magazine to help do just that.  I would like to thank all the wonderful contributions from organisations and groups whose focus is providing an inclusive community that caters for and cares about older people and supports them daily.  I greatly appreciate the huge role they play in promoting positive ageing as well as enhancing and supporting creativity, health and wellbeing for so many older people across dlr.

We in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council hope that everyone enjoys reading the 2026 dlr Age Friendly Magazine and you will find it informative, inspiring, engaging and a useful resource as you continue to thrive in our wonderful County.”

The Chief Executive of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Chair of the dlr Age-Friendly Alliance, Frank Curran was delighted to launch the annual magazine and said:

“This year’s annual publication is full of interesting articles that showcase the services available and highlight many of the Age Friendly opportunities to be found throughout the county.  I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the magazine for both the articles provided and for all the hard work done by you all through the year.  I would also like to thank Age Friendly Ireland for their ongoing support for the dlr Age Friendly Programme.

This magazine has proven to be a very useful and much sought after publication for older people and their families, both in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and beyond and we are extremely grateful to the Council and Creative Ireland for their continued funding and support.”
