Councillor Jim Gildea, Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council, has presented Civic Awards to several individuals in recognition of their exceptional contribution to community life across the county. The awards acknowledge the dedication and impact of individuals working across a diverse range of areas including community volunteering, business, sport, the arts, and the disability sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Councillor Jim Gildea said:

“The individuals we honour this evening represent the very best of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown. Through their commitment, leadership, and generosity of spirit, they have made a real and lasting difference to their communities. Many of these contributions are made quietly and without expectation of recognition, which makes is all the more important that we take the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate them.”

Among those honoured were individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in community development, strengthened opportunities in sport, supported inclusion and accessibility, and enriched the cultural life of the county.

Frank Curran, Chief Executive of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council, added:

“These awards recognise the vital role played by individuals and organisations across our communities. The partnership between the Council and these committed individuals helps to create a county where people can thrive, and we greatly value the contribution they make to improving quality of life for all.”
