Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (dlr) is delighted to announce success at the RIAI Architecture Awards 2026, with two projects recognised across key categories.

Shanganagh Castle Estate, delivered in partnership with the Land Development Agency (LDA), received the Award in the Living – Housing category. Designed by ABK Architects and working with our Housing and Architects Departments alongside the LDA, the development is a flagship example of high-quality, sustainable housing at scale, creating a new community in Shankill.

Blackrock Tearooms won in the Conservation category. The project carefully detailed by 7L Architects, managed by our Parks section and supported by our Conservation section, sensitively restores and enhances an important historic structure, ensuring its continued use and enjoyment for the public. The project is underpinned by the Blackrock Park Masterplan 2020 developed by the Parks Department and is part of a series of improvements to the park since its adoption.

These awards recognise excellence in architectural design, innovation, and the delivery of high-quality built environments. Both projects highlight dlr’s commitment to creating sustainable communities and protecting architectural heritage.

The Council would like to thank and congratulate all teams involved in delivering these outstanding projects.
