Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council proudly held their 33rd Annual Tidy Districts Awards ceremony last night at County Hall, Dún Laoghaire. This esteemed competition continues to recognise and reward the dedicated efforts of Residents Associations, Tidy Towns, Tidy Districts, and Estate Management groups that enhance their local environment. This year's applicants featured fantastic biodiversity initiatives (perennial and native planting), regular litter and graffiti clean ups as well as efforts to promote the circular economy and community sustainability.  This year's ceremony facilitated a focus on sharing ideas and networking between groups and produced a booklet featuring innovative, effective and practical achievements from this year's entrants. This booklet is now available online from our website: This booklet is now available online from our website

Speaking at the awards, An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Councillor Jim Gildea said:

“Congratulations to all groups who entered the Tidy Districts Awards 2025. Their dedication and hard work in enhancing our local environment is truly commendable. The efforts of Residents Associations, Tidy Towns, Tidy Districts, and Estate Management groups in beautifying our communities, fostering community spirit and improving sustainability sets a remarkable example for all and makes Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown a cleaner, greener, and better place to live. The Tidy Districts awards also provides an opportunity to recognise the teamwork and co-operation that exists between dlr and the communities it serves. I extend my congratulations to all groups who participated in Tidy Districts 2025 and encourage more groups to join next year."

This year, thirty-five Residents’ Associations, Estate Management Groups, and Tidy Towns Groups who entered the competition were awarded prizes.

Seafield Residents’ Association in Booterstown were the overall winners of Tidy Districts 2025. This enthusiastic team of volunteers was recognised for their outstanding work in the community. Their hard work is visible throughout their community, with judges noting the area was maintained to an exceptionally high standard. From extensive litter patrols to pollinator planting, expanding their community garden with upcycled materials, and their extensive 75-year anniversary celebrations, Seafield Resident’s Association clearly take great pride in improving and celebrating their local area.

Frank Curran, Chief Executive, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, said:

"The Tidy Districts Awards provides us with a wonderful opportunity to applaud the huge voluntary efforts of Residents Associations, Tidy Towns, Tidy Districts, and Estate Management groups in enhancing their local environment. This year, we are thrilled to have 35 entrants, including five new groups, participating in the event. The Tidy Districts Competition is part of dlr’s commitment to tackle litter and facilitate community climate action as detailed in the dlr Climate Action plan 2024-2029. We will continue to support our valued community groups by offering clean-up materials through our Community Clean Up Scheme, and various funding opportunities, including the recently launched Environment and Climate Action Grant 2026, which is open until Friday 24 October."
