Bike Week 2026 Launches Across Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown
Activities run from Saturday, 09 May to Sunday, 17 May 2026
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in partnership with the National Transport Authority (NTA) have today announced details of Bike Week 2026, which runs from Saturday, 09 May to Sunday, 17 May.
Events planned throughout Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown include:
- Accessible Bike Fleet Showcase
- Heritage Cycle Tour
- Bike Safety Checks & Giveaways
- Introduction to Mountain Biking Sessions and Tours
- Bike Bop – Bike and Biodiversity Week Celebration
- Cycling Treasure Hunt
- Kids Cycle Training and much more.
Bike Week is an annual celebration and promotion of the benefits of cycling, with hundreds of family friendly events including heritage cycles, maintenance workshops, and learn-to-cycle courses taking place across the country.
All 31 local authority areas are involved in Bike Week with events being organised jointly through the local authorities and local sports partnerships.
All events taking place throughout Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown are FREE to attend.
An Cathaoirleach, Councillor Jim Gildea, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said:
“This exciting week-long event aims to encourage cyclists of all ages and abilities to experience the many benefits of cycling.
A wide range of fun and inclusive events will take place across the county this year, and I would encourage everyone to get involved throughout the week.
The programme caters for all levels, from complete beginners to seasoned cyclists, with events designed to enable people young and old to enjoy the benefits of cycling. All events are free to attend.”

National Transport Authority CEO, Anne Shaw, emphasised the importance of the week saying:
“The engagement with Bike Week from all the local authorities has again, far exceeded expectations. It’s fantastic to see so many events taking place all around the country. There really is something for everyone this year and I would encourage everybody to get involved.”
