Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council & IADT receive Creative Communities Economic Action Fund

The project, Towards a Creative Dún Laoghaire, will see the County Council partner with the Public Design Lab at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT). The partners will research and explore ways of forging closer cooperation and embedding a presence for IADT in Dún Laoghaire Town. They will also work closely with a range of key local stakeholders to examine ways to enable IADT graduates and other creatives to stay working within the Dún Laoghaire Town, and the wider County.

Commenting on the funding award, Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Cllr. Lettie McCarthy said:

We are incredibly grateful to Creative Ireland and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media for this support. Developing and growing the creative economy will be a key driver for economic growth and development in the County into the future. The Council recognises the importance of fostering this important area.”

The Public Design Lab drives a vision for IADT of engagement and collaboration with industry, government, and civic partners, and to develop advanced research with positive social and environmental impact. We are delighted to strategically align with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for this multi-stakeholder co-design process to work towards our shared goals for the Towards A Creative Dún Laoghaire initiative.

Towards a Creative Dún Laoghaire will take place from June to November 2022. The Project Team will combine expertise from dlr Arts Office and Economic Development Unit, along with the Public Design Lab, IADT.
