BusConnects
BusConnects Overview
BusConnects is the National Transport Authority’s programme to greatly improve bus services in Irish cities and will also include significant enhancements to both cycling and pedestrian facilities. A key element of the BusConnects project is the development of Core Bus Corridors (CBCs), two of which fall within Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. Details of these corridors, including Environmental Impact Assessment Report, Compulsory Purchase Order, Appropriate Assessment Screening Report, Natura Impact Statement and Supplementary Information are all available on the BusConnects website.

BusConnects Service Upgrade at Harbour Road, Dún Laoghaire (Section 38 Scheme)
BusConnects also sees the delivery of improved local bus routes and services. As part of this Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, in conjunction with the National Transport Authority, are working with AECOM consulting engineers to facilitate a BusConnects service upgrade for Dún Laoghaire town. As a result 8 new bus services are proposed to terminate at Dún Laoghaire DART Station. To accommodate these new services additional bus layover spaces are required. Following a review of the area by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the National Transport Authority, Harbour Road (beside the DART station) was identified as the preferred location for these additional bus layover spaces. It is anticipated that work on this scheme will commence at the end of 2025.
