Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2026 Opens for Expressions of Interest
Funding available under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2026
Community groups, businesses and local stakeholders are being invited to help shape the future of towns and villages across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown as the Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2026 opens for Expressions of Interest.
Funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development, the scheme supports the revitalisation of towns and villages through projects that strengthen town centres, improve public spaces, enhance local amenities and bring vacant and derelict buildings back into use.
The 2026 scheme includes a new pilot urban town initiative, which will support towns and villages within larger urban and metropolitan areas.
What types of projects can be funded?
Expressions of Interest are sought for projects that:
- Drive town centre regeneration
- Support town and village plaza development
- Develop green spaces and recreational amenities in town or village centres
- Enhance streetscapes
- Include climate action measures
- Support infrastructure for markets such as farmers' markets, artisan markets and local trader markets
- Upgrade and refurbish community centres
- Bring vacant and derelict buildings back into use as multi-purpose community spaces
Two funding streams are available:

- Grants from €50,000 to €500,000
