Supporting More Women for Local Election in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council are proud to announce our upcoming training events in partnership with Women for Election to empower women to run in the 2024 Local Elections.

The training is jointly funded by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and as well as providing an introduction to politics, the training events will focus on areas like messaging for campaigns in the “What are you saying” messaging workshop, campaign design and rollout and Social Media 101.

Councillor Denis O'Callaghan, Cathaoirleach, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council highlighted:

"Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council are keen to continue the trend of gender balance of elected members to the Council. It is wonderful to see this training being provided to potential local election candidates for 2024."

dlr is delighted to welcome Yemi Adenuga to the Council Chamber for her exciting module ‘Women Belong’. In 2019, Yemi was the first black woman to be elected as a local Councillor. As a positive change agent, her inspiring, confidence building programme for Women for Election, works to motivate and encourage women in their engagement with politics.
