Public Consultation: A new Conservation Plan for Dalkey Islands

Dalkey Islands comprise the uninhabited islands of Dalkey Island, Lamb Island, and Maidens’ Rock. The Dalkey Island Conservation Plan 2014-2024 has guided conservation efforts for the islands over the past decade, focusing on protecting their unique biodiversity, historical significance, and natural landscape.

As we reach the end of this plan’s cycle, we are now in the process of developing a new conservation plan that will build upon the insights, challenges and successes of the previous one. This new plan will continue to prioritise the islands' protected habitats, species and heritage, while addressing any emerging challenges and incorporating lessons learned from the first plan.

Through this approach, we aim to enhance conservation efforts, improve ecological resilience, and ensure the long-term protection of Dalkey Islands for future generations.

The consultation period will run for 14 November to 14 December 2025.
