New Cathaoirleach Cllr Barry Saul Launches Coolevally Housing Development
An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Cllr Barry Saul, marked his first official engagement by launching the new housing development at Coolevally, Shankill, with the Minister for Housing, James Browne T.D., alongside elected members, Chief Executive Frank Curran and Sean O’Connor, Chief Executive of Tuath Housing.
The Coolevally development comprises 198 one and two-bedroom apartments, including 104 Cost Rental homes delivered in April 2026 and 94 social homes delivered in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council early last year.
Speaking at the launch, Cllr Saul said:
“Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is proud to partner with Tuath Housing on developments like Coolevally in Shankill, which are delivering high-quality homes for our communities. This significant level of investment highlights what can be achieved through strong collaboration and a shared commitment to addressing housing need. As demand continues to grow, it is essential that we support models such as cost rental and scale up delivery to ensure more people can access secure, affordable homes in our county.”
Coolevally has been provided by Tuath in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Cairn. This delivery was supported by funding from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the Housing Agency and the Housing Finance Agency.
This marks a further milestone in the partnership between Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Tuath, with the Approved Housing Body now managing more than 770 homes across the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area and a further 420 homes planned through their joint delivery pipeline.
