‘How to be Energy Smart at Home’ in Dún Laoghaire on Saturday 27 September is a free clinic to help you to understand how to be energy smart at home and 'Ask the Experts' your questions in-person.    

 

   

The event brings together energy experts to share a wide range of information from, practical no-cost saving energy tips, understanding energy bills and smart meters, to a complete home energy retrofit to reach a high Building Energy Rating (BER). You will also hear about accessing grants for home energy upgrades and solar panels.   

   

Meet Energy Experts from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU), Electric Ireland Superhomes and Codema - Dublin's Energy Agency. See a demonstration of the ‘UCD Energy Cost Calculator’, designed to help users estimate and compare their electricity costs using their own household smart meter data.   

   

Councillor Jim Gildea, Cathaoirleach, of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, commented:    

 

“This free clinic offers an opportunity to meet trusted energy experts under the one roof. Improving the energy performance of your home and using renewable energy creates win-win outcomes for you by improving the comfort of your home, by saving you money and also reducing your carbon footprint”.   

  

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s Energy Team are coordinating the event as part of Ireland’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Week. This event promotes quality education, clean energy, climate action, sustainable cities and communities.  

 

Frank Curran, Chief Executive, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said:    

“The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) belong to everyone. We all have a part to play, starting at home.”
