dlr has begun the legal process to consider taking charge of the roads and drainage infrastructure at Mount Eagle Square, Kilgobbin Road, Sandyford, Dublin 18. Public consultation on the proposal is now open.

What does "taking in charge" mean?

Taking in charge is the process by which roads and other infrastructure in a development become public and are maintained by the relevant public authorities.

The proposal

Under Section 180 of the Planning and Development Act 2000, dlr is giving notice that it intends to begin the procedures set out in Section 11 of the Roads Act 1993 (as amended).

As part of this process, the Council will consider declaring the roads and surface water sewer at Mount Eagle Square to be public infrastructure and placing them under the responsibility of the relevant public authorities.

How to have your say

The consultation is open now and closes on 16 November 2026. Residents and other interested parties can make a submission through the online survey:

Planning: Notice of Proposed Taking in Charge at Mount Eagle Square

Submissions will be included in the Chief Executive's report on the consultation. The report will be publicly available and presented to elected members at a Council meeting. Names, email addresses and organisations will not be included in the report or meeting minutes.
