Food Waste Now Accepted at Ballyogan Recycling Park

General News
Food waste being put in the bin

Food waste is now being accepted at Ballyogan Recycling Park, making it easier for households in Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown to recycle food waste and reduce landfill use.

From 1 April 2026, households can bring food waste to the recycling park in line with national food waste regulations. These regulations require food waste to be kept separate from general waste to help increase recycling.

Food waste will be accepted loose or in compostable bags only, with a maximum of 25 litres per visit.

The cost is €5 for up to 25 litres of food waste. There is no additional charge if food waste is brought with general waste or green garden waste.

Under current regulations, all households must have access to a brown bin service. However, households can also choose to compost at home or bring food waste to an authorised facility, such as Ballyogan Recycling Park.

Ballyogan Recycling Park operates under EPA Licence No. W15‑01 and accepts household waste in line with national environmental regulations.
