Dublin Canvas 2026: Call for artists and community groups

General News
Dublin Canvas 2026

We are delighted to be taking part in Dublin Canvas again this summer, and we are now inviting artists and community groups to submit their artwork.

Dublin Canvas is a public art project that turns everyday traffic light control boxes into colourful artworks. It helps to brighten our streets and create open-air galleries across our communities.

Since 2015, more than 970 boxes have been painted across Dublin. This year, even more locations are available, including areas in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

Who can apply

Applications are open to:

  • Individual artists
  • Community groups
  • Anyone aged 18 or over living in Dublin

You do not need to be a professional artist. People from all backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to apply.

What to expect

If your design is selected:

  • Your artwork will be displayed on a traffic light control box in a public location
  • You will help transform a local space with colour and creativity
  • Artwork usually stays in place for at least one year
  • Artists are free to be creative but are encouraged to design pieces that reflect the local area.

Support for artists

There are two options available:

  • Materials supplied plus €300 contribution, or
  • €375 contribution if you supply your own materials

All boxes will be prepared before painting begins.

How to apply

To apply, you need to:

  • Submit your artwork as a JPEG or PDF
  • Include your details (name, title, location, short description)
  • Email your submission to info@dublincanvas.com

Important dates

  • Submission deadline: Wednesday 10 June 2026

We would love to see strong interest from across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

If you enjoy art or want to get involved in your community, this is a great opportunity to make a lasting impact on your local area.
