Launch of Feile Nasc, Marlay Park
Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council are delighted to support Feile Nasc, Dublin's premier outdoor Folk and Traditional Music Festival coming this May to Marlay Park. The festival aims to celebrate the “Nasc” (bond) between our community, nature, culture and our traditional and folk music and language. Attending the launch today with Roisin O, the Bonny Men & Ispíní na hÉireann was Councillor Mary Hanafin, Cathaoirleach & Ruairi O'Dulaing, Parks Superintendent, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
Feile Nasc will return to Marlay Park, Dublin on Saturday 20th and Sunday the 21st of May and will take place over two days. Mayhem, the newest addition, will take place on Saturday May 20th, from 4-10pm, catering for an audience of 18–40-year-olds The original Féile Nasc will take place the following day, on Sunday, May 21st from 1-7pm . It will be geared towards families and an older audience of 40 years plus. On both days, festival goers will enjoy fantastic music in the beautiful natural setting of the iconic Marlay Park.
Saturday May 20th - Mayhem is an over 18’s event which will feature a diverse range of traditional and contemporary folk artists including Kneecap, Róisín O, Ispíní na hÉireann and The Bonny Men.
Sunday 21st May - Féile Nasc is a family friendly event and aims to promote our flourishing musical tradition through showcasing talented local musicians as well as others from further afield. This year’s festival will be headlined by powerful contemporary traditional group Jiggy along with Rónán Ó Snodaigh and Myles O’ Reilly, Dave Munnelly and Shane McGowan and up and coming exciting Dublin group, The Len Collective, amongst many others.
Festival organisers have also collaborated with the Africa Day celebrations welcoming West African group Anitchie to perform on Sunday.
As a family friendly festival, Féile Nasc (Sunday 21st) will also provide activities for children to enjoy on the day, including drumming workshops from Kila’s Rossa O Snodaigh and Campa Foraoise, Óga Yoga, open music sessions and a Sean nós dancing workshops with dancer Úna Ní Fhlatharta.
