Bank of Ireland staff have liaised directly with the dlr Pollution Control engineers to isolate the spill and clean the relevant sites in the first instance, and they have offered further assistance as required. The Pollution Control Section has confirmed that the oil has now been removed.

In relation to the site at Kilbogget Park and biodiversity, staff have been onsite monitoring the situation in the Park including areas further downstream. However, some wildlife is difficult to find and catch, as noted by the rescuers during the wildlife rescue operations. We are saddened to hear that one of the cygnets did not survive as a result of the oil spill despite everyone’s efforts. We will continue to monitor wildlife in an effort to detect any signs of the effects from the spill on any wildlife over the coming weeks.

A pollution incident has been reported to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

dlr Pollution Control staff responded to the report and have attended the site in Kilbogget Park, to deal with the matter.  Pollution Control staff installed booms and pads to absorb the spill.

Swans were removed with  the help of local dlr staff, Kildare Wildlife Rescue & Volunteers and  are currently  in the care of Kildare Wildlife Rescue.  dlr staff will continue to visit the site at Kilbogget Park over the weekend and  will monitor the situation. We remind visitors  to the park  to ensure that dogs are kept on a lead at all time, except in the designated off leash areas.
