Killiney Beach
Killiney Beach is located about 15km (10 miles) south of Dublin city centre. Killiney Dart station is beside the beach which makes it easier for those travelling by public transport. The beach has picturesque views of Bray Head, Dalkey Island and Sorrento Terrace. It is a popular destination for swimming, scenic walks and escaping city crowds.
The beach is not sandy and is made up of pebbles and stones. Sturdy shoes or swim shoes are advised for those entering the water. There is an exclusion zone for motorised craft for 300m from the foreshore and this is marked by lighted buoys. Swimmers should be aware that passing boats and ferries can cause sudden large waves.
The council runs regular cleaning programmes at the beach throughout the year. This makes it clean, safe and accessible for the community. The council acknowledge the importance of the beach as an amenity for the community. The Beach retained it blue flag in 2024/2025.
