Ballyogan Civic Recycling Facility

Customers are kindly asked to minimise the movement of people to and at each of the facilities by observing the following guidelines:

• Use your household bins where possible.
• Do not use these facilities for recycling small quantities of waste.
• Sort all recyclables before arriving at the facility.
• Bring help to lift heavy items where necessary, as staff at Ballyogan Recycling Park cannot assist with unloading waste.
• Please note children are not allowed at any of these facilities.
• No commercial waste is accepted in accordance with the EPA licence.
• Large vans are not permitted to use the facility.

Householders can bring a wide range of items to the Civic Recycling Facility for recycling and disposal. This facility is for domestic use only, and commercial waste is not accepted. Ballyogan Recycling Park is operated by waste management company Thorntons Recycling, on behalf of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Ballyogan Recycling Park is opposite the "Ballyogan Wood" Luas stop on Ballyogan Road and is accessible from the M50 motorway via Junction 15.

What can I bring to the CRF?

For details on the types of waste material accepted at Ballyogan CRF, please refer to the information booklet available in the related documents section on this page at the bottom. 

From 15 November 2025 to 31 January 2026, householders can bring their old or broken artificial Christmas trees, including pre-lit trees with light strings attached, to Ballyogan Recycling Centre. We will accept all artificial trees, regardless of brand, free of charge.

Since 1 April 2026, Ballyogan Recycling Park accepts household food waste to comply with current food regulations. It accepts only loose food waste or food waste in compostable bags, and limits each visit to 25 liters. A nominal fee of €5 applies for up to 25 liters of food waste, but food waste delivered with general waste or green garden waste is free.

About Ballyogan Civic Recycling Facility

The CRF has a separate container or skip for each material type, and all materials must be segregated. Wet or dirty material can contaminate other dry recyclables, resulting in the whole load being disposed of in a residual landfill. If collected separately, materials such as metals, wood, and green waste can be recycled and reused.

The CRF is for private vehicles only, and it accepts only household waste.

No commercial waste can be accepted at Ballyogan CRF in accordance with the terms of its EPA licence W0015-01.

Points to remember:

• Recyclables should be as clean as possible
• Rinse out all remaining food and liquids
• Flatten or squash boxes, cartons, and cans
• Remove all plastic packaging from cardboard and paper
• Make sure the correct material is placed in each container
• Ballyogan Recycling Park only accepts household waste.
