Denis Kelly and Ben Readman - 2016
Edge by Denis Kelly and Circadian by Ben Readman were new solo exhibitions by artists with strong connections to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown – Ben grew up in Dún Laoghaire and Denis studied art in IADT. The exhibitions took place in March and April 2016.
Denis Kelly showed a series of abstract paintings which explored light, form and space in response to the built environment. The dlr LexIcon building and its proximity to the sea, in addition to the wider designed world, acted as both inspiration and source material.
Circadian, by Ben Readman, was a new body of work is made up of a collection of intimate two-dimensional works on traditionally prepared wooden panels or linen. Readman employs a number of traditional techniques and natural materials such as, silver, graphite, pigments and handmade paints.
