Traffic and Roadworks Update: Saturday 9 May to Friday 15 May 2026

Motorists travelling in Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown are advised to plan ahead this week, as a number of road closures, roadworks and traffic management measures will be in place across the county.

Key Traffic Updates

Wyattville Link Road – Reduced Speed Limit

A temporary speed limit of 50 km/h is in place on the westbound Wyattville Link Road, between Cherrywood Avenue and the M50 southbound slip road.

  • Dates: 13 April to 30 November 2026
  • Reason: Construction of the Wyattville Link Road underpass
  • Please drive carefully and follow signage.

 

Proposed Road Closures (Public Consultation Open)

Enniskerry Road (R117), Kilternan

  • Dates: 8 June to 28 August 2026
  • Section: From Kilternan Country Market to Our Lady of the Wayside Church
  • Reason: Road realignment and upgrade
  • Local and pedestrian access will remain open

 

Castle Street, Dalkey

  • Date: 1 June 2026 (11:00–19:00)
  • Reason: Dalkey Vintage Festival (vintage car display)
  • Local access maintained

 

Meadow Mount / Meadow Grove, Ballinteer

  • Date: 24 June 2026 (18:15–21:30)
  • Reason: Stephen Roche Cycle Race
  • Diversions will be in place

 

M50 Southbound (Junction 12 to 13)

  • Dates: Nights of 26–27 May 2026 (21:00–06:00)
  • Reason: Road resurfacing

 

Stillorgan Road (R138)

  • Date: 31 May 2026 (11:30–16:00)
  • Reason: Women’s Mini Marathon

  • Dates: 25–29 May 2026
  • Reason: Road maintenance works

 

Burton Hall Road, Sandyford

  • Now extended until: 29 May 2026
  • Reason: Watermain works (delayed due to hard rock)

 

Knapton Road, Dún Laoghaire

  • Until: 17 July 2026
  • Reason: Active Travel Scheme works

 

Killiney Lane (Marino Avenue East to Station Road)

  • Until: 3 August 2026
  • Reason: Rebuilding unsafe wall

 

Wyattville Link Road (Westbound)

  • Until: 30 November 2026
  • Reason: Underpass construction

 

Glenamuck Road

  • Ongoing closure
  • Reason: Glenamuck District Roads Scheme

 

Permanent Changes

 

Barnaslingan Lane

  • Now closed to through traffic
  • Open for pedestrians and cyclists only

 

New Bus Gate (Glenamuck Area)

  • Coming into operation later in 2026
  • Prioritises buses and safer travel

School Safety Projects (Safe Routes to School)

Works continue at:

  • Sandyford Road (Holy Cross NS)
  • Convent Road (Carysfort NS)
  • Monkstown Grove (Holy Family NS)
  • Eden Road / Hudson Road (Harold School)

 

These works take place outside peak times where possible.
School access remains open.

  • Cherrywood to Rathmichael Cycle Scheme – no traffic impact

  • Allow extra time for journeys
  • Follow diversion signs
  • Watch for temporary traffic controls (Stop/Go systems)
  • Take extra care near work zones
