Key updates for this week

 

Speed Limits in Place

 

M11 (Northbound)


A temporary 60km/h speed limit is in place:

  • From the county boundary near Junction 7 to Junction 5
  • From 22 June to 17 July 2026

 

This is to allow resurfacing works on the M11.

 

 

Wyattville Link Road

A temporary 50km/h speed limit remains in place on the Wyattville Link Road (westbound only).

The speed limit applies:

  • From Cherrywood Avenue to the Cherrywood M50 southbound slip road
  • From 13 April 2026
  • Until 30 November 2026, or until works are complete

 

These works support construction of the Wyattville Link Road underpass.

 

Key Road Closures This Week

Kilmacud Road Upper, Dundrum

  • Closed until Saturday 27 June 2026
  • Between Dundrum Garda Station and Dundrum College
  • For resurfacing works as part of the Safe Routes to School scheme 

     

Fitzgerald Park Road, Dún Laoghaire

  • Closed on Sunday 28 June (2.00pm – 5.00pm)
  • For a community family event 

     

Convent Road, Blackrock

  • Closed from Monday 29 June to Friday 3 July 2026
  • For resurfacing works under the Safe Routes to School scheme 

Ongoing Road Closures

  • Enniskerry Road (R117), Kilternan
    Closed until 28 August 2026
  • Knapton Road, Dún Laoghaire
    Closed until 17 July 2026
  • Wyattville Link Road (Westbound)
    Closed until 30 November 2026

 

Diversion routes are in place and clearly signposted. 

Roadworks and Lane Restrictions

A number of roadworks and utility works will take place across the county this week. 

Key areas include:

  • York Road, Dún Laoghaire – resurfacing and footpath works
  • Ballybrack Village – footpath improvements
  • Churchtown Road Upper – road and footpath improvements
  • Ballybetagh Road – traffic calming works
  • Killiney Avenue – anti-skid works
  • Frascati Park, Blackrock – rehabilitation works

 

Additional short‑term works will take place in:

  • Stillorgan
  • Shankill
  • Dundrum
  • Dalkey
  • Deansgrange

 

Most works will take place:

  • During the day (10.00am – 4.00pm)
  • With Stop/Go traffic management or temporary lane closures

Some delays are expected.

 

 

Dundrum Development – Dún Brí (formerly Dundrum Central)

Work has now begun on Dún Brí, the new development on the former Central Mental Hospital site in Dundrum. 

  • The development will deliver hundreds of new affordable and social homes
  • Enabling works are underway, including site preparation, utilities and demolition of existing structures 

Most activity will take place within the site boundary, helping to limit disruption locally. 

However:

  • Construction traffic will increase over time
  • Traffic management measures will be introduced where needed
  • Road cleaning and safety measures will be in place

 

Working hours are:

  • Monday to Friday: 7am – 7pm
  • Saturday: 8am – 2pm

 

Residents can contact the construction team directly if needed.

 

Active Travel and Safe Routes to School Works

Works are continuing on a number of schemes, including:

  • Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme
    • Ongoing works on Glenageary Road Upper and Mounttown Road
    • Stop/Go traffic management at key junctions
  • Dodder Greenway (Ely’s Arch project)
    • Works ongoing with some traffic delays

 

  • Safe Routes to School projects

    • Works in Dundrum, Blackrock and other locations

     

Where possible:

  • Works take place between 10.00am and 4.00pm
  • Peak times are avoided
  • Pedestrian access is maintained at all times 

 

Plan Ahead

Drivers are encouraged to:

  • Allow extra travel time
  • Follow diversion routes
  • Take care around traffic management areas
