Traffic and Roadworks Update - Saturday 20 June to Friday 26 June 2026
Motorists travelling in Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown are advised to plan ahead this week, as a number of road closures, roadworks and traffic management measures will be in place across the county.
Key updates for this week
Speed Limits in Place
M11 (Northbound)
A temporary 60km/h speed limit will apply:
- From the county boundary near Junction 7 to Junction 5
From 22 June to 17 July 2026
This is to allow resurfacing works on the M11.
Wyattville Link Road
A temporary 50km/h speed limit remains in place on the Wyattville Link Road (westbound only).
The speed limit applies:
- From Cherrywood Avenue to the Cherrywood M50 southbound slip road
- From 13 April 2026
Until 30 November 2026, or until works are complete
These works support construction of the Wyattville Link Road underpass.
Proposed Road Closures
We are proposing a number of temporary closures in the coming weeks, including:
- Dundrum Wood (R117) – 26 July (overnight works)
- George’s Street Lower, Dún Laoghaire – mid‑July night works
- Killiney Hill Road – mid‑July daytime closure
- Torquay Road, Foxrock – early to late July
- Puck’s Castle Lane / Murphy’s Lane, Rathmichael – July to August
- Station Road and Marino Avenue link, Killiney – July works
Brock’s Lane, Dún Laoghaire – July works
These closures are mainly for gas works, road maintenance and local works.
Diversion routes will be in place and clearly signposted.

Kilmacud Road Upper, Dundrum
- Closed 22–26 June 2026
- For resurfacing works as part of the Safe Routes to School scheme
Hillcrest Road, Sandyford
- Closed for part of 24 June 2026
For cleaning and maintenance works
Sutton’s Lane, Ballycorus
- Closed on 24 June 2026 (afternoon)
- For cleaning works
Enniskerry Road (R117), Kilternan
- Closed from 8 June to 28 August 2026
- For major road upgrade works
Knapton Road, Dún Laoghaire
- Closed until 17 July 2026
- Works are part of the Active Travel Scheme
Wyattville Link Road (Westbound)
- Closed until 30 November 2026
- Alternative routes and traffic layouts are in place
Roadworks and Lane Restrictions
A number of roadworks and utility works are taking place across the county this week.
Key locations include:
- Ashlawn Park, Ballybrack – footpath and roadworks
- Blackrock (Cross Avenue / Booterstown Avenue) – utility works
- Carmanhall Road, Sandyford – ESB works
- R119 Bray Road – ducting works
- Cunningham Road, Dalkey – wastewater works
- Stillorgan and Deansgrange – ducting and street works
Most works will take place:
- During the day
- With Stop/Go traffic management or temporary lane closures
Some local delays are expected.
Active Travel and Safe Routes to School Works
Works are continuing on a number of schemes, including:
- Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme
- Ongoing works on Glenageary Road Upper and Mounttown Road
- Stop/Go traffic management at various junctions
- Dodder Greenway (Ely’s Arch project)
- Works ongoing with occasional Stop/Go traffic
- Safe Routes to School projects across the county
Where possible:
- Works take place between 10.00am and 4.00pm
- Peak times are avoided
- Pedestrian access is maintained at all times
Plan Ahead
Drivers are encouraged to:
- Allow extra travel time
- Follow diversion routes
- Take care around traffic management areas
