Traffic and Roadworks Update: Saturday 18 April to Friday 24 April 2026

Motorists travelling in Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown are advised to plan ahead this week, as a number of road closures, roadworks and traffic management measures will be in place across the county.

 

Key updates for this week

 

 

Wyattville Link Road – Speed Limit in Place
A temporary 50km/h road works speed limit is in operation on the Wyattville Link Road (westbound) between Cherrywood Avenue and the southbound M50 slip road.


The speed limit is in place to support ongoing construction works and will remain until 30 November 2026, or until works are completed.

Military Road, Ballybrack – Weekend Closure
Military Road, Ballybrack will be temporarily closed on Saturday 18 April, from 8am to 6pm, between Killiney Hill Road and Seafield Road.


Local and pedestrian access will be maintained, and diversion routes will be signposted. Works are being carried out to facilitate the installation of speed ramps.

 

Ongoing road closures affecting traffic

  • Burton Hall Road, Sandyford remains closed between the N31 northbound lane and Blackthorn Avenue until Friday 8 May, with local and pedestrian access maintained.
  • Knapton Road, Dún Laoghaire, at its junction with Mounttown Road, continues to be closed as part of the Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme, until Friday 17 July.
  • The laneway connecting Marino Avenue East and Station Road, Killiney remains closed until Monday 3 August due to safety works.

     

Roadworks and lane restrictions this week

A large number of short‑term works will take place during off‑peak hours to reduce disruption, including reinstatement works, utility repairs and resurfacing works across areas such as:

  • Stillorgan
  • Ballinteer
  • Churchtown
  • Blackrock
  • Dún Laoghaire
  • Killiney
  • Sandyford
  • Shankill

 

Many of these works will operate between 10am and 4pm, with Stop/Go traffic management or marshall‑controlled systems in place. Some night‑time works are also scheduled on selected routes.

 

Active Travel and Safe Routes to School works

Traffic impacts will continue in parts of Dún Laoghaire, Glenageary, Mounttown Road Upper and Kill Avenue as works progress on the Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme.
Utility and drainage works at the Honeypark / Maypark junction will take place from Monday 20 April to Wednesday 22 April, between 7am and 7pm.

Safe Routes to School improvement works are also ongoing or commencing at locations including Carysfort National School, The Harold School, and Holy Family National School, with measures in place to maintain pedestrian access and avoid peak times.

Plan ahead

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, follow signed diversion routes and observe all temporary traffic measures in place.
