Traffic and Roadworks Update Saturday 11 July to Friday 17 July 2026
Motorists travelling in Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown are advised to plan ahead this week, as a number of road closures, roadworks and traffic management measures will be in place across the county.
Key updates for this week
Glenamuck and Kilternan Traffic Changes
The Glenamuck District Roads Scheme continues to progress with important traffic changes in the Kilternan and Glenamuck area.
From Monday, buses will return to the Enniskerry Road in Kilternan, with the road expected to reopen to general traffic shortly afterwards. Revised routes will be in place for Dublin Bus services 44 and L26.
Roadworks will continue at the Golden Ball junction and there will be no access through the BAM works area on Glenamuck Road. Access to Cromlech Close will be maintained via the Glenamuck Link Distributor Road (GLDR).
M11 Speed Limit in Place
A temporary 60km/h speed limit remains in place on the M11 northbound between Junction 7 and Junction 5 until 17 July 2026 to facilitate resurfacing works.
Wyattville Link Road
A temporary 50km/h speed limit remains in place on the Wyattville Link Road (westbound only).
The speed limit applies:
- From Cherrywood Avenue to the Cherrywood M50 southbound slip road
- Until 30 November 2026, or until works are complete
The speed limit is in place to support construction of the Wyattville Link Road underpass.
Current Road Closures
George's Street Lower, Dún Laoghaire
Night-time road closures will take place:
- Monday 13 July to Thursday 16 July
- Between 7.00pm and 5.00am
The closure is required for gas works. Access to the hospital will be maintained.
Puck's Castle Lane and Murphy's Lane, Rathmichael
- Closed daily from 13 July to 9 August
- Between 8.00am and 6.00pm
The closure is required for road maintenance works.
Brides Glen Road, Shankill
- Closed from 13 July to 26 September 2026
The closure is required to facilitate installation of a new watermain.
Torquay Road, Foxrock
- Closed until 26 July 2026
The closure is required for gas works.
Knapton Road, Dún LaoghaireClosed until 17 July 2026
Works form part of the Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme.
Roadworks and Lane Restrictions
Roadworks and utility works will take place across the county this week, including:
- Sandyford
- Shankill
- Ballinteer
- Churchtown
- Blackrock
- Foxrock
- Dalkey
- Mount Merrion
- Dún Laoghaire
Traffic management measures including Stop/Go systems, temporary lane restrictions and local diversions will be in place where required.
Active Travel and Safe Routes to School Works
Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme
Works continue on:
- Mounttown Road Lower
- Glenageary Road Upper
Stop/Go traffic management remains in place.
An early warning has also been issued for a temporary one-way system on Mounttown Road Lower from August to October 2026.
Holy Cross NS, Dundrum
Surfacing works on Upper Kilmacud Road have been completed and the road is now fully open to traffic. Only minor snagging works remain.
Holy Family NS, Monkstown
Surfacing works on Dunedin Terrace and Monkstown Grove will take place from 13–17 July, with traffic management in place during off-peak hours.
Harold School
Works continue at Eden Road Lower and Harold Crescent, with temporary traffic signals in operation.
Plan Ahead
Drivers are encouraged to:
- Allow extra travel time
- Follow diversion routes and temporary signage
- Take extra care around roadworks and traffic management areas
