Traffic and Roadworks Update 18 to 24 July 2026

Wyattville Link Road speed limit remains in place

A temporary 50km/h speed limit remains in force on the westbound Wyattville Link Road between Cherrywood Avenue and the Cherrywood M50 southbound slip road.

The restriction is required to facilitate construction of the Wyattville Link Road underpass as part of the Beckett Link Road Project and will remain in place until 30 November 2026, or until works are completed.

Proposed Road Closures

The following temporary road closures and traffic arrangements are proposed during August:

• Laneway between Blackrock DART Station and Blackrock Park: Proposed closure from 24 to 28 August for ground investigation works.
• George's Avenue, Blackrock: Proposed closure on 14 August to facilitate permanent reinstatement works.
• Green Road, Blackrock: Proposed closure between 10 and 12 August, from 10am to 04pm, for gas works.
• Mounttown Road Lower, Dún Laoghaire: A temporary one-way traffic system is proposed from 4 August to 30 October as part of the Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme. Northbound traffic will be maintained while southbound traffic will be diverted.
• Brennanstown Road: Proposed closure from 4 to 24 August to facilitate surface water drainage works.
• Dodder Road Lower, Rathfarnham: Proposed closure from 10 August for approximately seven days to complete cycle infrastructure and associated road works.

Current Road Closures

Road users should be aware of the following current closures:

• R117 Dundrum Wood, Dundrum: Closed on the morning of 26 July, from 00.01am to 09am, to facilitate works at Dundrum Town Centre.
• Puck's Castle Lane and Murphy's Lane, Rathmichael: Closed until 9 August for road maintenance works, between 08am and 06pm.
• Torquay Road, Foxrock: Closed until 26 July for gas works, between 08am and 11pm daily.
• Laneway linking Marino Avenue East and Station Road, Killiney: Closed from 20 July to 01 September for resurfacing works.
• Brock's Lane, Dún Laoghaire: Closed from 20 to 24 July for resurfacing works, between 08am and 06pm.
• Station Road, Killiney: Closed nightly from 20 to 26 July for pedestrian crossing, drainage and footpath works, between 07pm and 05am.

Ongoing Closures for Major Infrastructure Projects

The following longer-term closures remain in place:

• Brides Glen Road, Shankill: From Rathmichael Road to Mullinastill Road until 26 September 2026.
• Kellystown Road, Taylorsgrange: From Harold’s Grange Road to Ticknock Road until 24 July 2026, between 08am and 06pm.
• Enniskerry Road, Kilternan: From Kilternan Country Market to Our Lady of The Wayside Church until 28 August 2026.
• Laneway linking Marino Avenue East and Station Road, Killiney: Until 03 August 2026.

• Wyattville Link Road: Traffic management measures remain in place until 30 November 2026.

   

Major Roadworks and Lane Restrictions

Motorists should expect delays at the following locations:

• M50 Junction 14 Link Road Scheme: Lane closures on the Leopardstown Road roundabout from 20 to 31 July. Two lanes will be closed overnight between 10pm and 06am, with one lane closed during off-peak daytime hours.
• Crosthwaite Park: Pedestrian crossing and raised table works continue until 31 July.
• Utility and investigation works are taking place at Dale View (Ballybrack), Highfield Park (Dundrum), Regem Maris (Dalkey Avenue), Highland Grove (Cabinteely), Priory Gardens (Stillorgan) and Old Bray Road/Brennan Road (Cabinteely). Traffic management measures will be in operation.
• Churchtown Road Upper: Traffic calming and footpath improvement works continue until September.
• Kellystown Road, Rathfarnham: Patching and surface dressing works continue until 24 July 2026, between 8am and 6pm.
• Dundrum Road: Single-lane traffic management remains in place while boundary wall improvement works continue until 28 August 2026, between 07am and 02pm.

Active Travel and Greenway Projects

Work continues on the Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme, with traffic management measures in place on Mounttown Road Lower and Glenageary Road Upper from 04 August to mid-October 2026. Road users are advised to allow extra travel time in the area.

The Dodder Greenway – Ely's Arch Project is progressing, with construction ongoing at the Orwell Road/Braemor Park junction. Further works are due to begin on 04 August at the Orwell Road/Dodder Road Lower junction.

Safe Routes to School Updates

Works continue across a number of school travel improvement projects:

• Holy Cross NS, Dundrum: Major works are substantially complete, with only minor snagging works remaining.
• Carysfort National School: Works on Convent Road and Brookfield Terrace are largely complete, with minimal disruption expected between 08am and 06pm.
• Holy Family National School: Surfacing works at Dunedin Terrace and Monkstown Grove are scheduled between 20 July and 09 August, from 10am to 04pm.
• The Harold School: Accessibility, footpath and junction improvement works continue during the school holiday period between 08am and 06pm. Temporary traffic signals remain in operation.

Public Consultation

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is inviting submissions on a proposed signalised pedestrian crossing at the N11 Cornelscourt junction.

The project aims to improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Submissions can be made until 03 August 2026.
