Active Travel project updates

Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme

Works are now substantially complete and the scheme is operational. Some snagging works, minor roadworks and landscaping will continue under localised traffic management arrangements until mid-November. For further updates, visit dlrcoco.ie/environment-climate-change/active-travel/dlr-central.

Dodder Greenway – Ely’s Arch Project

Works continue at the Orwell Road/Braemor Park and Orwell Road/Dodder Road Lower junctions. Final surfacing is complete at the Braemor Park junction, and road crossings are now complete at the Orwell Road/Dodder Road Lower junction. Footpath and tactile paving works are ongoing there.

Dodder Road Lower now operates as a permanent one-way system, westbound only from Orwell Road towards Ely’s Arch. Traffic management and signposted diversions remain in place where required. The scheme is expected to be completed by the end of Q4 2026.

Safe Routes to School updates

Major construction works have been substantially completed at the following locations, with only minor snagging and landscaping works remaining over the next couple of weeks:

  • Holy Cross National School, Dundrum: Sandyford Road car park and Upper Kilmacud Road are fully open to traffic.
  • Carysfort National School: Convent Road and Brookfield Terrace. Traffic-impacting works will take place between 8am and 6pm.
  • Holy Family National School, Monkstown: Dunedin Terrace and Monkstown Grove. Traffic-impacting works will take place between 10am and 4pm.

Proposed pedestrian crossing at Cornelscourt

The Council has given notice of its intention to provide a signalised pedestrian crossing at the N11 Cornelscourt signalised junction.

The works include modifications to the existing traffic signals, road markings, footpaths, kerbing, tactile paving and signage. The crossing aims to improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists, improve connectivity to nearby bus stops, and support the safe movement of vulnerable road users through the junction. Drawings and particulars can be viewed at dlrcoco.ie/traffic-management/traffic-news.

Please allow extra time when travelling through affected areas and follow temporary signs and traffic management instructions.

Information on planned roadworks on the M50 is available from M50 Concession Limited.
