Traffic and Roadworks Update 11-17 April

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians across Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown are advised to plan ahead as a wide range of roadworks, temporary closures and traffic management measures take place throughout the county from Saturday 11 April to Friday 17 April 2026.

Wyattville Link Road (Cherrywood)

  • 50km/h road works speed limit in place from 13 April to 30 November 2026
  • Temporary westbound closure for underpass construction; alternative traffic layouts provided 

Sandyford Business District

  • Temporary road closures planned for the Sandyford 5K on 7 May 2026
  • Traffic management and emergency access will be maintained 

Temporary road closures

  • Burton Hall Road (Sandyford) for watermain installation
  • Knapton Road (Dún Laoghaire) for Active Travel works
  • Military Road (Ballybrack) on selected Saturdays for speed ramp construction 

Active Travel & cycling schemes

  • Cherrywood to Rathmichael Manor scheme largely complete, with final line marking outstanding
  • Ongoing works as part of the Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme 

Safe Routes to School programmes

  • Works progressing at Carysfort NS, The Harold School, Holy Cross NS and Holy Family NS
  • Traffic‑impacting works generally scheduled between 10:00–16:00 to reduce disruption 

Local roadworks and utilities

  • Multiple short‑duration works including resurfacing, drainage, reinstatement and footpath improvements across Dalkey, Blackrock, Dundrum, Foxrock, Ballybrack and Sandycove

  • Allow extra time for journeys
  • Follow on‑street signage and diversion routes
  • Check for updates before travelling
