Traffic and Roadworks Update 11-17 April

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians across Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown are advised to plan ahead as a wide range of roadworks, temporary closures and traffic management measures take place throughout the county from Saturday 11 April to Friday 17 April 2026.
Cherrywood & Rathmichael
- Wyattville Link Road
- A temporary 50km/h speed limit is in place from Monday 13 April until 30 November 2026.
- The westbound lane is temporarily closed to facilitate construction of a new underpass as part of the Beckett Link Road Project.
- Alternative traffic layouts and access via the M50 slips are in operation.
- Cherrywood to Rathmichael Manor Cycle Scheme
- Major works are now complete.
- Final line‑marking and finishing works will continue with minimal traffic impact.
Sandyford, Leopardstown & Carrickmines
- Burton Hall Road, Sandyford
- Temporarily closed until 8 May for watermain installation works.
- Local and pedestrian access will be maintained.
- Glenamuck / District Roads Scheme
- Ongoing works continue, including traffic management changes and the permanent closure of Barnaslingan Lane to through traffic.
- Sandyford Business District – Sandyford 5K
- Temporary road closures are planned for Thursday 7 May (evening).
- A traffic management plan will be in place and emergency access maintained.
Dún Laoghaire, Monkstown & Glasthule
- Knapton Road, Dún Laoghaire
- Closed at Mounttown Road until 17 July to facilitate works as part of the Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme.
- St Patrick’s Crescent, Monkstown
- Road resurfacing and footpath works continue until 1 May, with Stop/Go traffic management in place.
- Grove Avenue, Blackrock
- Drainage works continue until 1 May, operating weekdays between 10am and 4pm.
Dalkey & Killiney
- Temporary and short‑duration roadworks will take place during the week on a number of roads, including Dalkey Avenue, Cunningham Road, Nerano Road, Kilbegnet Close, Knocknacree Road and Rockfort Avenue.
- A temporary closure remains in place on the laneway linking Marino Avenue East and Station Road, Killiney, for boundary wall reconstruction works.
Ballybrack, Shankill & Sandycove
- Military Road, Ballybrack
- Closed on Saturday 11 April (8am–6pm) for speed ramp construction.
- Further Saturday closures are planned in coming weeks.
- Church Road, Shanganagh Road, Military Road & Wyattville Road
- Night‑time resurfacing works continue until 26 April.
- Elton Park, Sandycove
- Footpath renewal works continue until 24 May, with Stop/Go traffic management.
Dundrum, Ballinteer & Clonskeagh
- Short‑term resurfacing and reinstatement works will take place on Bray Road, Nutgrove Park, Sandyford Road and Taney Road.
- Taney Road, Dundrum
- Bus stop construction works continue until 8 May.
Safe Routes to School
Works are progressing at:
- Carysfort National School
- The Harold School
- Holy Cross NS
- Holy Family NS
Traffic‑impacting works are generally scheduled between 10am and 4pm, avoiding school drop‑off, pick‑up and peak commuter times. Pedestrian access is maintained at all locations.
Plan Ahead
- Allow extra travel time where works are underway
- Follow on‑street signage and traffic management
- Emergency works may arise at short notice
