Traffic and Roadworks Update 01 to 07 August 2026

Wyattville Link Road speed limit remains in place

A temporary 50 km/h road works speed limit remains in place on the Wyattville Link Road (westbound) between Cherrywood Avenue and the Cherrywood M50 southbound slip road.

The reduced speed limit is in operation until 30 November 2026, or until the completion of works, to support the construction of the Wyattville Link Road underpass as part of the Beckett Link Road Project.

Proposed Road Closures

• Castle Street, Dalkey - An application has been received to temporarily close Castle Street on 22 and 23 August 2026, from 10:00 to 19:00 each day, to facilitate the Dalkey Lobster Festival. Access for pedestrians and local traffic will be maintained.
• Laneway between Blackrock DART Station and Blackrock Park - The Council proposes to close the laneway from 24 to 28 August 2026 to allow ground investigation works for the Capital Projects Office.
• Ballybrack Road, Glencullen - A temporary closure is proposed for 10 September 2026, between 19:00 and 20:00, to facilitate a fundraising 5km road race organised by Dublin Mountain Community Centre and Stars of Erin GAA Club.

Current Road Closures

The following approved closures may affect traffic in the coming weeks:

• Brennanstown Road: Closed from 4 to 24 August for surface water drainage works.
• Green Road, Blackrock: Closed from 10 to 12 August, between 10:00 and 16:00, for gas works.
• George’s Avenue, Blackrock: Closed on 14 August for road reinstatement works.
• Dodder Road Lower, Rathfarnham: Closure begins 10 August for approximately seven days as part of the Active Travel Scheme.
• Mounttown Road Lower, Dún Laoghaire: Temporary southbound one-way system from 4 August to 30 October.
• Puck’s Castle Lane and Murphy’s Lane, Rathmichael: Closed until 9 August for road maintenance works.
• Marino Avenue East to Station Road Link, Killiney: Closed until 1 September for resurfacing works.
• Brides Glen Road, Shankill: Closed until 26 September for watermain installation.
• Enniskerry Road (R117), Kilternan: Closed until 28 August for road realignment and upgrade works.
• Wyattville Link Road (westbound): Long-term closure remains in place until 30 November as part of the Beckett Link Road Project.

New Works This Week

• Smyth’s Villas and York Road, Dún Laoghaire: Road resurfacing works from 4 to 7 August.
• Ashlawn Park, Ballybrack: Footpath and roadway reinstatement works from 4 to 7 August.
• Shanganagh Cliffs, Shankill: Drainage blockage clearance works from 4 to 7 August.
• Cherrywood Park, Shankill: Blockage clearance works from 4 to 6 August.

Ongoing Works for Major Infrastructure Projects

• Granville Road, Kilbogget: Footpath works continue until 14 August.
• Puck’s Castle Lane and Murphy’s Lane: Surfacing works continue until 7 August.
• Marino Avenue West to Station Road, Killiney: Surfacing works continue until 1 September.
• Churchtown Road Upper: Traffic calming and footpath improvement works continue until 11 September.
• Cherrywood Campus: Foul main installation works continue until 28 August.
• Dundrum Road, Dundrum: Lane restrictions remain in place until 28 August for boundary wall works.

Most works are operating under Stop/Go traffic management systems or temporary traffic management plans and may result in delays.

Proposed Signalised Pedestrian Crossing at Cornelscourt

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has given notice of its intention to provide a new signalised pedestrian crossing at the N11 Cornelscourt Junction.

The scheme includes upgrades to traffic signals, footpaths, kerbing, tactile paving, road markings and signage. The proposed crossing aims to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists while enhancing links to nearby public transport services.

Active Travel and Safe Routes to School Updates

• Dodder Greenway, Ely’s Arch Project - Works continue at the Orwell Road/Braemor Park junction. Further construction activities are scheduled to begin at the Orwell Road/Dodder Road Lower junction from 4 August. A temporary closure of Dodder Road Lower will commence on 10 August and is expected to last approximately one week.
• Holy Cross National School, Dundrum - The Sandyford Road car park works are substantially complete, with only minor snagging works remaining. Upper Kilmacud Road is fully open, with minimal disruption expected.
• Carysfort National School - Works on Convent Road are largely complete, with minor snagging remaining. Construction on Brookfield Terrace is substantially complete and only finishing works remain.
• Holy Family National School - Works at Dunedin Terrace and Monkstown Grove have been completed. Minor snagging works remain, with minimal disruption expected.
• The Harold School - Improvement works continue at Eden Road Lower and Harold Crescent, including accessibility upgrades, drainage improvements and public lighting works. Temporary traffic signals remain in operation.

Public Consultation

The Council has published proposals for a new signalised pedestrian crossing at the Cornelscourt/N11 junction. The scheme aims to improve safety, accessibility and connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists, including access to nearby public transport services.
