Status Orange High Fire Risk Warning 24 - 29 July

We are advising the public that a Condition Orange (High Fire Risk) warning has been issued by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, effective from today, 24 July, until midday on Wednesday, 29 July.

Continued warm and dry weather conditions have significantly increased the risk of fires in areas containing dry vegetation such as grass, gorse and heather. The risk is expected to be particularly elevated in eastern regions over the weekend. Stronger winds may also contribute to faster fire spread and more difficult firefighting conditions. 

The public is urged to:

• Do not light fires, campfires or barbecues in parks, forests, hills or open countryside.
• Dispose of cigarettes safely and responsibly.
• Report any signs of fire immediately by calling 999 or 112.
• Follow all fire safety advice and cooperate with emergency services.
• Park vehicles responsibly and ensure access routes remain clear for emergency responders. 

Landowners, farmers and land managers are asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to An Garda Síochána. 

The Council is appealing to everyone to exercise caution and help protect communities, wildlife, forestry and recreational amenities during this period of heightened fire risk.
