Revival of The O’Connell Centenary Championship Cup race as part of Coastival 2023

General News
O'Connell Centenary Cup

In 1875, to commemorate the centenary of Daniel O’Connell, a trophy was presented to the people of Kingstown (Dún Laoghaire) and Dalkey, to commemorate his birth. The cup was awarded to the winning crew in a rowing event held during the Kingstown Regatta. As part of this year’s Coastival festival and after a gap of over 70 years, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to be teaming up with St. Michael’s Rowing Club to revive the event, which will now be held every year. The competition will take place between the East and West piers in the Harbour on Wednesday, 5th July at 9pm.
