Housing Liaison Service for Survivors of Industrial and Reformatory Schools

General News

Survivors of Industrial and Reformatory Schools can now access a dedicated Housing Liaison Officer through Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. This free service provides clear information, guidance and practical support to help people understand and access housing options.

Support is available to all survivors, whether or not they are already on a social housing list. It includes help with:

  • Applying for social housing
  • Understanding available supports
  • Accessing services such as homelessness assistance, housing grants and loans.

The Housing Liaison Officer acts as a single point of contact, helping the Council understand each person’s circumstances so services can respond appropriately. They do not make decisions on applications.

The service is designed to be confidential, accessible, and sensitive. Survivors will not be asked to revisit past experiences. Additional support is available from Sage Advocacy, a free and independent service that can help survivors access information and engage with services.
