Hawk's Cliff/Vico Baths Update
The original scope of the works to upgrade the swimming area has been substantially completed as of the beginning of August 2026. .
Unfortunately, additional damage was caused to the upper-level handrail due to unauthorised access along the walkway between the Éire sign and the bathing area during the summer months. As a result, further repairs are now required, including resurfacing the path and replacing 32 metres of damaged handrail. The access will be restricted until the end of August when the resurfacing will take place. The new walkway fencing is expected to be delivered towards the end of September, after which installation can proceed.
Please note: Works to resurface the walkway from the Éire sign will commence on Tuesday 18 August and are expected to be completed by Friday 28 August. To facilitate the works, access from the railway bridge will need to be closed for periods while concrete pouring is underway. These closures may also extend into the evening. Advance notice will be provided before any access restrictions are put in place
The project remains ongoing, and a further update will be provided when the completion date is known.
We understand that many people are eager to return to swimming at Hawks Cliff. However, the site remains an active construction area and public access is not permitted while works are ongoing, as it could put both visitors and workers at risk.
We appreciate the publics patience and understanding while these important works are completed and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
