Have Your Say on Local Property Tax for 2027

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is asking the public for their views on the Local Property Tax (LPT) rate for 2027.

Each year, councillors can decide whether to change the basic rate of LPT in the county. They can lower it by up to 15%, raise it by up to 25%, or leave it as it is. This is called the Local Adjustment Factor.

In 2025, councillors cut the rate by 15%. That decision meant the Council had €10.4 million less to spend in 2026 than it would have had otherwise. If the rate is cut by the same amount again, the Council expects a similar drop in income for 2027.

LPT money helps pay for services used every day across the county, including parks, roads, footpaths, cycleways, libraries, housing, community facilities and environmental projects.

Before councillors decide on the rate for 2027, the Council wants to hear from residents, property owners, businesses, community groups and anyone else with an interest in how LPT is set. Feedback will be included in a report to councillors when they meet to decide on the rate on 12 October 2026.
