Get ready to celebrate St Patrick’s Day across the County!
This St. Patrick's Day, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown is set to come alive with a variety of exciting events and activities for all to enjoy. From parades to chases, circus acts to virtual experiences, there is something for everyone to celebrate Ireland's national day in style.
The festivities kick off with the Dún Laoghaire Parade at 11am, featuring over 50 groups including the Irish Coast Guard, local sports clubs, Ukelele hooley, Twilight twirlers, RNLI, Communications Workers Union band and more. We are excited to announce that our Grand Marshal for the parade will be boxer Jack Marlay, an Olympic hopeful from Monkstown and MC will be Bobby Kerr. The parade will start at Islington Avenue (Newtownsmith) travel along the coast and finish at the Victoria Fountain.
Meanwhile, in Stepaside, the Parade starts at 1.30pm with MC Andrea Hayes and includes over 40 groups including dancers, musicians, choirs, vintage cars, local sports clubs and many more. Don’t tell anyone but the Grand Marshal is a local Hollywood star! There will be many different cultures represented in the Parade including a 15 minute musical and dance performance in the Village by a group representing the Indian Community in Stepaside. The parade will travel along the Enniskerry Road through Stepaside Village, finishing at Kilgobbin Lane just before Belarmine Roundabout. In addition, a fun fair will be held at Stepaside Village over the weekend.

As part of the St. Patrick's Day celebrations, the LÉ George Bernard Shaw will sail into Dún Laoghaire Harbour and host two open days for the public to tour the ship on Saturday and Sunday. The Dún Laoghaire CoCo Markets will also be open on St. Patrick's Day, and a new virtual experience will take place in the People’s Park from 12-4, featuring the hunt for the Carlichaun Leprechuans through a fun mobile app.
Additionally, Fossett’s Circus will be at Dún Laoghaire Harbour from March 20th until March 24th, providing entertainment for all ages.
