Dublin Water Safety is starting a new Beach Lifeguard Course on 7 April at the dlr Leisure Meadow Swimming Pool. The course, run with Water Safety Ireland, will teach people the key skills needed to keep swimmers safe along Dublin’s coastline.

Participants will learn surf rescue techniques, how to use CPR and AED equipment, basic first aid and spinal care, how to use a rescue board, and how to manage incidents on the beach. The training is designed to prepare lifeguards for the changing conditions they may face on Irish beaches.

To join, applicants must be confident swimmers aged 16 or older. Everyone will need to pass a swim and fitness test before starting the course.

Anyone interested should register before 23 March. More information is available by emailing paul.bcs@gmail.com.
