Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown County Council is attending the Safer Roads Conference in Killarney, Co. Kerry, a two‑day event centred on making everyday journeys safer for everyone who uses our roads.

The conference explores practical ways to reduce traffic‑related incidents and improve road safety through better design, engineering, education, enforcement, and technology. It also examines collision trends, sustainable travel, improved mobility, and the emerging role of artificial intelligence in keeping people safe on our roads.

A wide range of voices are represented, including road safety and transport professionals, local authorities, roads policing, educators, cycling organisations and community safety networks, all working towards a shared goal of safer, more inclusive streets.

Gerry Flaherty, Road Safety Engineer with Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown County Council, and Orlaith Maguire, Road Safety Officer with South Dublin County Council, were invited to present at the conference. Their contributions focus on education programmes, public awareness campaigns, interagency collaboration, local and social media engagement, and road safety engineering developments, all aimed at protecting lives and supporting safer travel choices.
