Housing for All, the government's Housing Action Plan, has committed to inspecting 25% of rental properties annually. Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, in line with this commitment, will inspect over 5,000 properties on an annual basis. It is crucial for landlords to understand that if their property does not comply with the minimum standards, prosecution may occur. New standards were introduced in 2019, and the housing standards guide provides a summary of these standards, along with highlighting the obligations for landlords. It is important to note that not all standards are applicable to some AHBs (housing associations) or local authorities.
