dlr Libraries in Level 5

General News

Following the announcement by the Government that Ireland is moving to Level 5 of the Govt's Plan for Living with Covid-19 from Thursday 24 December until at least Tuesday 12 January, all dlr Library spaces will remain closed to the public. This includes the My Open Library service at Deansgrange Library, and Sunday opening at dlr LexIcon. From Monday 4 January, Library staff can be contacted via branch phone or email  from 9.30am – 5.00pm  Monday – Saturday.

Bag a Book: Contact & Collect Service

In Level 5, the Bag a Book: Contact & Collect Service will discontinue.

Book Drop Service

In level 5, our Book Drop Service will continue to operate for older members of our community or those who are particularly vulnerable during this time. A selection of books will be delivered to your door by one of our volunteer drivers. This service is operated from dlr LexIcon. For more information on how to avail of this service, please contact the dlr Community Call helpline on Freephone 1800 804535, 01 2713199 or email covidsupport@dlrcoco.ie. Alternatively, you can contact dlr LexIcon staff on 01 2801147 or via email at dlrlexiconlib@dlrcoco.ie

Reservations

In Level 5, the national online catalogue will be switched off, so reservations may not be placed at this time, and the national delivery service will discontinue.

FAQs

Can I return books while the libraries are closed to the public?

While in Level 5, we encourage library users not to make a trip to the library to return items; all items out on loan have been extended with no overdue fines. However, if it is convenient for you, you can return items via the 24/7 book return at dlr LexIcon. When we return to Level 3 or lower, we are happy to take your returns during staffed hours to the designated drop-off points outside each library.

Can I collect books while the libraries are closed to the public?

While in Level 5, we encourage library users not to make a trip to the library to collect items. When we return to Level 3, we are happy to allow collection of library items at designated times.

Can I still reserve items online?

No, in Levels 4 and 5, the national reserves system switches off, so no reservations can be made during this time and the national delivery service that delivers items between counties is discontinued.
