dlr First Frames Short Films Cast and Crew Showcase
DLR Arts Office was delighted to screen the two short films recently completed under the dlr First Frames Scheme. The Scheme supports emerging filmmakers; both films were fully shot in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.
In In Between, Anna 15 knows that her life is coming to an end. She replaced the Anna that came before her and another Anna will step in to carry on where she left off. Before her inevitable departure, she decides to leave a letter to her successor attempting to pass on her weird and wonderful worldview. In Between is a comic treaty on the brief fragility and dubious privilege of being alive. It is written and directed by Hannah Mamalis and produced by Aisling Malone and Lorraine Higgins at Rye Films.
In I will appear in the middle of your dream, Maria has been struggling with severe insomnia for months, caused by the loss of her father. She discovers a cure for her insomnia at a magical ramen shop only to become enthralled by its enigmatic cook who has hands that resemble her father’s. This is a modern magical realism tale set in Dún Laoghaire, an urban mystery that addresses love, loneliness and grief. It is written and directed by Larissa Melo and produced by Jite Birhire and David Kiarie at Jetpack Jungle Creative.
dlr First Frames is fully funded by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s Arts Office and Economic Development Unit and managed by IADT. Mentoring support as well as additional equipment and facilities were provided by the National Film School, IADT.
