Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (DLR) is proud to announce the commencement of construction on a new Salt Barn and Brine Manufacturing Facility, marking a significant step forward in enhancing winter road maintenance and public safety. The Salt Barn will provide secure, weatherproof storage with increased capacity, ensuring a consistent and reliable supply of road salt throughout the winter season.

This upgrade will enable faster, more efficient storm response and reduce material loss due to exposure. Complementing this, the Brine Manufacturing & Storage Facility will allow for on-site production of salt brine—an effective and environmentally responsible alternative to traditional road salt.

Together, these facilities represent a strategic investment in operational efficiency, emergency preparedness, and safer travel during winter weather events.
