DLR Becomes First Workplace in Ireland to Achieve European Gold Across All Cycle Friendly Employer Categories

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (DLR) has achieved European Gold certification in all six Cycle Friendly Employer categories, becoming the first workplace in Ireland to reach the highest European standard across every category.

The Cycle Friendly Employer programme recognises organisations that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to supporting cycling through workplace facilities, infrastructure and culture.

Building on its achievement as the first local authority in Ireland to receive Gold certification in 2023, DLR has now reached the highest European standard in every assessment category. The award reflects the Council's ongoing commitment to promoting active travel, sustainability and staff wellbeing.

County Hall offers a range of cycling facilities for staff, including secure bike parking, e-bike charging bays, cargo bike spaces, bike maintenance and wash stations, showers, changing facilities, lockers and a drying room.

These facilities form part of DLR's broader commitment to encouraging sustainable travel and reducing barriers for those who wish to cycle as part of their daily commute.

The certification highlights the significant progress made in recent years to create a workplace environment where cycling is a safe, convenient and attractive option. By investing in high-quality facilities and fostering a positive cycling culture, DLR continues to demonstrate leadership in sustainable mobility and employee wellbeing.
