At the October meeting of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, councillors voted to retain the current 15% reduction in the Local Property Tax (LPT) rate for 2027, meaning homeowners in the county will not see an increase in their LPT bills arising from the local adjustment factor.

Council management had recommended reducing the discount from 15% to 7.5%, arguing that additional income would help fund local services and infrastructure projects across the county. Councillors were advised that retaining the full discount would result in approximately €10.4 million less revenue being available to the Council. They noted that this could impact funding available for services, infrastructure and other local programmes in the years ahead.

The vote means that the existing 15% reduction will remain in place for 2027, with no change to the current local LPT rate applied in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.
