Today, the Council flag is being flown at half‑mast to honour former Councillor of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council - Cllr Jane Dillon Byrne, who has sadly passed away.

Cllr. Dillon Byrne served as a Councillor on Dún Laoghaire Borough Council from 1974 to her re-election to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in 1999, where she continued to serve in the Dún Laoghaire Local Electoral Area from 1999 to 2014.

Cllr. Dillon Byrne made history as the first female Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire Borough Council and went on to become one of its longest‑serving members.

The Chief Executive, Councillors and staff of Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown County Council extend their deepest sympathies to her family at this difficult time.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
