A new round of funding has been announced under the Community Centres Investment Fund 2026 – Refurbishment Grant, providing €25 million to support the upgrade and improvement of community centres across Ireland.

The scheme aims to ensure community centres remain safe, accessible and fit for purpose, recognising their vital role in supporting local communities and bringing people together.

Funding available

Grants are available for capital refurbishment projects, with funding ranging from:

  • €10,000 to €25,000 for small-scale works
  • €25,001 to €100,000 for larger projects

 

These grants can support a wide variety of improvements, including:

  • Building repairs and renovations
  • Accessibility upgrades (for example lifts and disabled access)
  • Energy efficiency improvements
  • Kitchen, stage, lighting and facility upgrades
  • Essential equipment and furnishings

 

Who can apply

The fund is open to community organisations operating centres that are used by the public for social, recreational, or support activities.

Applicants must generally be not-for-profit groups and meet the eligibility criteria set out in the scheme guidelines.

Applications must be submitted online via the MyPobal Portal.

  • Opening date: 29 May 2026
  • Closing date: 13 July 2026

 

Community groups are encouraged to register in advance and begin preparing supporting documentation ahead of the application window.
